The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has just released the responses to its 2017 Job Outlook Spring Update which asks employers about their hiring plans. This should be of interest to not only those of you who are on the hiring side of the equation, but also for young adults who want to know where the jobs are.

Some of the highlights include:

  • One of the biggest changes is how many companies are planning to hire graduates with advanced degrees, especially doctoral degrees. This year more than 25% of the respondents plan to hire graduates with doctoral degrees, up from 15.7% last year
  • The ‘big four’ majors should be no surprise – most companies plan to hire from these four disciplines: Engineering, Business, Computer Sciences, and Accounting
  • Over 60% of employers select schools (that they hire from) based on majors offered
